Quick note..
Sat for the CAP exam today with 4 other chapter members and two non-IAAP members.
Here's my take on the CAP...
First, .. be sure you are caffeinated.. Ok, so maybe I'm the only one that thrives on coffee..but I didn't get coffee before the exam and I almost dozed off during it.
Seriously though, the Exam is case study after case study (scenario based questions) and quite.. well, boring. Nonetheless, 180 questions & 3.5 hours later.. I was finished.
Second- Be well-rested. Both exams (CPS & CAP) require stamina...so my lack of sleep (my own doing.. seeing Stevie Wonder in concert this week) was a real detriment.
Third- Participate in the Study Groups. I have found that it helps me retain more of the material than just reading at home. Having someone describe their real-time issue with something that will show up on the exam, for example, EEOC issue-helps it stick in our already full coconuts.
Fourth- Studying. With limited time to devote to studying.. here's the approach I chose.
Go through the final exam in the back of the exam book -- as a pre-test. Check my results.. find the knowledge gap. Then go back to the section f the study guides that address those sections... especially highlighting the terminology I missed. It seemed to help.
Best of Luck to everyone sitting for the CPS tomorrow.. We are all quite Brave!- K.
