On the Road to Excellence-- An Excellent Start

Hard to believe it is almost the end of October. So many great learning and career opportunties have been made available to members this Fall.

Whenever I have the opportunity to promote our chapter-- one of the most telling signs of our ability to serve our members best is the amazing schedule of programs we offer.. We offer numerous Brown Bag lunch seminars to our peers that can get out only at lunch. We have programs that rotate on different days of the weeks over the 12 month period in order to try and provide as many opportunities for busy career professionals to attend programs. Take a look at our program schedule posted on the web-page if you have not had a chance to yet do so. The calendar of events lists our events, Division and International. There are a myriad of choices for professional development.

I'm constantly amazed at the dedication and determination of our membership. Several of our chapter members are pursuing degrees while working full-time. Several of our committee chairs also serve on Division committees or take time to lead study group sessions.

The only way to not have a successful relationship with Capital.. is to not participate.

I'm certain this may read as a scolding..but it is not intended that way at all. It is meant to encourage and motivate all of you to try something new- come check out Capital if you have a membership but haven't participated in a while. We'd love your energy and input.

Lastly, many of you know that I have two all time favorite movies.... The Color Purple and Shawshank Redemption. Both have the on-going theme of survival.. but not just survival, thriving in the trials of life and not giving up.

My favorite quote form Shawshank Redemption is from the character Red. "Either get busy living or get busy dying. So to paraphrase Red- Either get busy growing your career or get busy not trying to be a better, more professional admin.
