Just a quick few thoughts about the DE-MD-DC Division Certification Conference held this past Friday/Saturday in Annapolis, MD.
1. Really thought the three speakers were great- they were different in their approach to the group - different in their style.. which made it more interesting.
2. Good attendance.. though I was disappointed in some of the whispering/side conversations that were being held by attendees-- during our speaker presentations. Very distracting. But then again... so were the hotel crew.. clearing dishes during the keynote speech!
3. Impressed with the organization. Even though I had been invited to particpate as the Mistress of Ceremonies.. I really had very little to do with the setup, registration, conference books or anything else related to the prep for the conference. Congrats to CWilliams and her team that pulled this conference together.
Was there too much was crammed into the event.?. with little networking time.?...BUT then again, you have folks shelling out a fair amount of cash.. so one has to balance providing them with a true value for their fee.. AND still providing some free time. Very hard to do on smaller or limited budgets.
Kindness.. hmm. I must admit to being constantly aware of how this Division constantly re-segregates itself into chapter-based groups at almost all opportunities.. unless this group is forced to mingle.. it doesn't happen. Not a criticism.. just an observation.
That's my thoughts for tonight. I would've posted them yesterday.. but you know what? I was off to bed by 9:00pm last night!
