Tuesday--officers & photos & classes

Good morning everyone.. A quickie before heading backto convention for a class.

One of the things that is interesting about convention is you often find course that you like and sometimes the course is not what you thought it would be.. but that is another topic.

Yesterday (tues) I attended a focus group -aimed at discussing various issues in the different vendor arenas. So, my group discussed catering, catering misfires.. catering successes and the differences in big city, small city and univer-sity- type ordering for lunches.

Then we headed off to the Final business session-where the announcement was made of the elected officers for 2007-2008 year.--

Judy McCoy Int'l President
Tia Theriaque- Int'l President Elect
Vice President -Barb Horton
Secretary- Susan Shamali
Treasurer- Mary Ramsey -Drow

The election took two ballots..

Tamra Goodall was re-elected Southeast District Director.
The full slate (not everyone is listed here) was installed and tonight will be the big dinner.

Now, We did a DE-MD-DC Division photo, a Chapter photo and also photos from the certification luncheon. I believe we will have those available by the Sept. meet & greet.

Last night was the evening of entertainment. ...but there was a huge downpour of thunderstorm, so several of us had dinner together instead... and did not venture out from the hotel inthe storm to see it. I'll try to get some feedback from those that did go.

And, classes.. the education component of this event. Loads of courses to choose from. And lot of impromptu brainstorming events that come up. I will attend three classes today. It was supposed to be 4 classes. ...but honestly, I walked on my second because I did not want to hear the speaker talk about how she wore 700 dollar sunglasses that she bought for $130. I understood when I signed up for this course it was about how the rich stay rich...but I personally felt it was a bit unnecessary and gratuitous to hear over and over how rich the speaker was.. and it came across snotty..though I doubt it was intended that way.

I decided to come and write you guys instead. I have a project management class later today... and I do foresee a nap.. somehow fitting into the schedule before dinner.

One last note... I did attend a brainstorming meeting (not scheduled as part of this convention..but one of the main bulletin board folks set it up ).. and that went from 6am-7:45 this morning.

Lots more to write about -- including the new web community... so I'll try to get something in tonight.---
